Introducing Mummy A and Squishels!

I'm so excited to introduce you to my sister-in-law, Mummy A, and her baby, Squishels! Over the next year Mummy A will be popping in every three months to give you an update into how their cloth journey is progressing, their loves and dislikes, what works for their family.

In particular she will be giving us some in depth reviews of the nappies in Darlings Downunder's Mixed Starter Pack.

Hi! My name is Mummy A and I'm a young, first time mother to one beautiful baby girl, Squishels!

Our little family consists of me (Mummy A), Daddy J, Squishels and our Malamute dog Mia, who loves our baby.

We enjoy going for walks as a family, and eating out together or watching Doctor Who, to have some time together or to have a little 'me' time.

Squishels has both her parents around, with both of us taking care of each other and helping Squishels to be the best little girl she can be!

I had a full medical induction but otherwise natural birth, followed by a trip to theatre for a massive tear (apparently our girl was stubborn from conception, and doesn't like being told what to do, like turn through the birth canal).

Our little family then spent a few weeks getting used to life as a family and not just a couple, bonding with Squishels in a mother and family unit (it's always OK to ask for that little extra support, and for my health, that meant spending 3 weeks getting sick of hospital food!). Bonding isn't an instant thing that happens at birth or even a lightbulb moment that happens in the next couple of weeks: I still remember the first time she sat and smiled at me, as well as the many weeks of sleepless nights where I was ready to give up. It has been a very  gradual process that has taken lots of effort but has definitely been worth it as I learn to delight in her and with her.

We started cloth with Squishels at 10 days with 10 nappies and now are using 24 at one month old, with plans for more nappies to come. We never thought we'd use cloth full-time, but with our very generous stash, it looks like we'll be using tem at least 90% of the time, and are extremely happy to have our baby's butt looking so cute all the time!

We also use cloth wipes all the time at home, and Squishels is so far exclusively breastfed, with plans to breastfeed for at least 12 months. Can't wait to share our modern cloth nappy journey with you!
