I began quite similarly to how we made our Fizzing Pavlova, by asking Bubbles if she'd like to make a pretend chocolate cake. We then mixed up a 'playdough' type base with chocolate drinking mix, bicarb and vinegar (recipe below). We pressed the playdough into an old heart shaped Body Shop tin and left it outside in the sun for about a week. I hadn't intended on leaving it so long but Bubbles was more interested in doing other activities.
It was well and truly hard when we came to play with it again but still smelled beautiful and chocolatey. I gave Bubbles a piping bag full of a pink, bicarb paste to 'ice' her cake with, along with some sprinkles and glitter at her request. Once she was happy with how her cake looked I handed her an old cream container filled with vinegar and stood back as she dumped the whole container over her cake.
I have to say, even though she still got a kick out of seeing the cake bubble over, I think she enjoyed icing and decorating it the most. :) We were able to drain the vinegar off the bicarb pavlova and reuse it 5 more times before it completely disintegrated.

My daughter loves fizzing anything - but one that smells like chocolate? Totally great!
