A Celebration of Motherhood

I'm excited to be joining with Lemon Lime Adventures series The Ultimate Guide to Baby's First Year.
http://lemonlimeadventures.com/youre-invited-celebrate-babys-first-year/
This series is not only a wealth of  information for you but we also have a very exciting giveaway which I'll tell you about at the end.

As it's Mother's Day it's only fitting that the series is beginning with a Celebration of  Motherhood.
Allow me to introduce you to my two little miracles-Squiggles and Bubbles. These beautiful little people are the centre of my world, they are the reason I get up in the morning, the reason I spend my days laughing, crying and pulling my hair out with frustration. Motherhood is not at all what I expected, I really wasn't ready for it but I wouldn't have it any other way.

As I write this I'm watching the girls wander around the room,  intermittently hugging and hitting each other in the head, and as I do I can't help but feel blessed. To think that these little human beings lived in me for 9months, that God has entrusted Numnut and I to raise-it just boggles my mind!

I thought I knew true  love when I stood with Numnut on our wedding day and committed in Jesus' name in front of our family and friends to take him as my husband now and as we grow and develop into all that God intends. I love my husband with my  entire being but  the love I have for our children is so different I don't think I had the capacity to even imagine it before they were born. It's like the moment I became a mother my heart grew so that I could not only love my God and husband but so that I could love my child so intensely, fiercely and unconditionally that I feel like  I'm going to burst!

I can't help but remember the words I heard my  father preach time and again as a child, "God's love for us is endless and unconditional, it's even greater than a parents love for their child." As a mother of one I found that almost incomprehensible  but as a mother of two I find trying to wrap my head around that concept simply too much for my poor little head. It's like trying to wrap my brain around the grace of God-it's simply too much! My heart though, knows it to be true and bursts with love for my God, my creator, my saviour, my father and my friend.

When I was pregnant with Squiggles I worried endlessly about how I was going to be able to give both Bubbles and Squiggles the love they deserved. Experienced mums told me not to worry,  that I would, and they were right. As I  screamed "I love you Squiggles, this is all for you because you're worth it"and agonizingly brought Squiggles into this world, as I saw her tiny body being resuscitated by the doctor  and as I saw her tiny body being cradled against her daddy's shoulder I knew that God had  not only given us yet another amazing gift but that he had amazingly increased my capacity for love yet again.

Some days I worry that Squiggles doesn't get as much of my attention as Bubbles did at her age. Some days I worry that Bubbles is no longer getting as much of my attention as she used to. However, then I sit and simply watch them at play, I marvel at their growth and development and realise that whilst I may not  be the perfect parent, I may not be able to give as much of me as I'd like, despite these things and all of my shortcomings as a mother my girls are growing into happy, healthy and fiercely independent young women.

Being a mother may not have been what I expected, I may not have been ready to become one but I am truely grateful to God for the gift of motherhood. It truly is the best gift I have ever been given.

Wow! Well that went in a totally different direction to what I'd planned, I had thought I was going to share the girls birth stories, I hope you still enjoyed it though!
