We are letter Q! Not an easy one but based on some recent observations
of Bubbles' by her educator I decided to go with Quirky Movement.
Bubbles' has a truly unique dancing style-quirky in fact.
My apologies in advance-I failed miserably at taking photos of this activity!
Set up for our activity was simple as-a few different coloured cushions laid out on the floor and some music playing.
I explained to Bubbles and Squiggles that I had a new game for them to
play called Quirky Movement. Bubbles' and I spent a few minutes talking
about what quirky meant (different/funny/cool) and then talked about
what quirky movements might look like.
I explained that while the music was playing they could dance around the cushions and then when it stopped I'd say a colour and they needed to stand on that colour cushion.
We decided together that the brown cushions would be for funny animals, the pink for queenly actions and the blue for quirky dance poses.
The girls had a ball-I wish I had been able to take better pictures to
show you!
For Squiggles this activity was all about balance and colour
recognition as she tried to work out where she was meant to go and how
to stand on the cushion without falling off-along with attempting to copy her big sister's movements.
Bubbles combined balance
with other movements that she decided were 'quirky' such as doing
pushups on the couch, running, jumping and rolling.
