When I saw today's play prompt from Nurture Store's Simple play:: complex learning series
was a nature walk I immediately thought of the waterfall walk we went on as a family during our holiday.
With the heat at the moment I'll admit I didn't really want to go on a bushwalk. I wanted to go to the beach.

Here's a few things we explored:
1. We smelled, touched and tasted the saltwater
2. We felt the sand between our toes (Squiggles tasted some-no matter what I do as soon as I put her on the sand she shovels the sand in like there's no tomorrow!)
3. We explored the rockpools together.
4. We collected shells and talked about the animals that used to live in them
5. We listened to the ocean and the seagulls
6. We looked at footprints in the sand and talked about whose they were
7. We found a dead starfish and several cuttlefish, we felt them and talked about how they were different shapes to other fish Bubbles had seen
8. We saw little fish swimming the shallows, Bubbles caught one in her bucket and then we let it go again-we talked about the importance of letting the little fish grow up to big ones
9. We touched some seaweed and dead coral, we talked about what they felt like and where they grew. I explained that the coral wasn't a rock but another type of sea creature.
10. We walked in the water in bare feet as we saw the tide become to come in.
