Simple Ice Play

Following along with Nurture Store's Simple play:: complex learning series, I thought I'd share with you one of Bubbles' most favourite activities. This activity is so simple but is guaranteed to keep Bubbles happy and busy when I need a few minutes to myself.

All you need is a full and frozen ice cube tray with a silicone back that can be pushed, we use a tupperware one but I've seen cheaper versions in our local cheap stores and a bucket of sorts.

To play I simply give Bubbles the tray and container and leave her to explore in her own way. Sometimes she'll run her hands over the frozen ice exploring the sensation and then draw on the table cloth with her wet fingers. Other times she pops the ice out and builds ice castles or counts the blocks of ice. More often than not though she enjoys 'popping' all the 'buttons' on the back of the ice cube tray, transferring the cubes to the container and then putting the ice back in the tray and repeating the process all over again.

Please always supervise your infant/child at play.  Please stay within arms reach and never leave infants/children unattended.  You know you're infant/child best, use your own judgement-considering your infant/child's temperament, habits, behaviour and development before you play with a new item.
