I decided to make something else as well, just in case we needed a second activity for the way back. Something that would be light and easily packed in a a backpack. I decided on fairy crowns!
On the day, we didn't actually make nature wands as I left the double sided tape at home. Oops! The crowns turned out to be hit and miss too as Miss L was bitterly disappointed that Bubbles' chose the blue crown and Bubbles wasn't willing to give it up. However by the end of the walk Miss L and Bubbles were besties and Bubbles told me she was making her crown for Miss L.
Squiggles loved her crown and took great delight in finding treasures to stick to it as we walked along. We found that because it was a bit damp only the very dry items stuck but that didn't phase her at all.
Nature Crowns
You will need:
Contact paper
A4 Construction paper
Glue
How to make it:
To make our nature crowns we took a piece of A4 construction paper and cut it in half lenghtways. I then glued it together to make one long, thin piece.
I cut the contact paper to fit and glued it to the consturction paper shiny side down. (Paper facing up)
When we got to this stage we packed the "crowns".
In the carpark I pulled the crowns out and measured them around each child's head. I pulled the paper off and folded the construction paper around in to a circle. Using the contact paper to stick it to itself.
We then placed the crowns on the girls' heads and invited them to find some fallen, natural treasures to stick to their crowns!
Easy peasy!
