Rice on the light table

Have you ever played with rainbow rice on a light table? Recently Numnut was sweet enough to create Bubbles and Squiggles an awesome light table from what I would have called junk. I’m really in love with the light table so you can probably expect an overload of light table activities soon as we explore it fully.

To invite Bubbles to play with the light table I simply placed a clear tub full of rainbow coloured rice onto the light table and added a scoop and some clear plastic shot glasses.
Even though she was sick at the time Bubbles dove straight in and immediately added some foam numbers into the rice, pressing them into the rice to make impressions.
The activity didn’t last too long, as Bubbles really was quite sick but during the day as she had spurts of energy she kept coming back to the table and rice.

Have you got a light table at home? What’s your favourite way to play with it?

Please always supervise your infant/child at play.  Please stay within arms reach and never leave infants/children unattended.  You know you're infant/child best, use your own judgement-considering your infant/child's temperament, habits, behaviour and development before you play with a new play medium.
